Privacy

Your account is not your manuscript.

Auctor keeps website account data to the minimum needed to provide downloads, account access, and licences. The Auctor website does not upload or store your manuscript.

Effective 31 July 2026 · For the desktop and mobile applications, see the application privacy policy.

What this website stores

  • Your chosen name, email address, one-way password hash, email-verification status, and account timestamps.
  • Licence records, including plan, status, purchase references, and an encrypted copy plus one-way hash of each licence key.
  • Essential security and session records needed to keep you signed in and protect the service.
  • Minimal product events such as a download, registration step, key issue, or activation. These events do not contain manuscript text.

Why it is used

We use this information to create and secure your account, verify your email, issue and support licences, process purchases, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and understand whether the download and activation journey works. We do not sell your personal information or use it for third-party advertising.

Who receives it

Website infrastructure and email providers process the information required to operate the service. Stripe processes payment details for paid purchases; Auctor stores Stripe transaction references, not full card details. Public pages load fonts from Bunny Fonts, which may receive standard connection information such as your IP address. Information may also be disclosed where required by law.

AI and your writing

The website does not receive your manuscript or AI-provider key. In the desktop application, you choose whether to connect a third-party AI provider or a local server. Text sent to a third-party provider is governed by that provider's terms and privacy policy.

Protection and retention

Passwords are stored as secure one-way hashes, licence keys are encrypted at rest, forms use CSRF protection, and account areas require authentication. Use a unique password and keep your licence key private. Account and licence records are kept while your account is active and as needed for security, support, accounting, and legal obligations.

Your choices

You can update your name and email, change your password, or delete your account from your profile. You may also ask for a copy or correction of your information, or raise a privacy question, by emailing auctoruk@outlook.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
